Although quub has been available for the BlackBerry for several months now (by downloading from our website) the quub team is excited to announce that it has just recently been approved and listed in the BlackBerry App World store.  This is BlackBerry’s equivalent to the iTunes Store for the iPhone.

Our BlackBerry client is our most feature advanced client that we have available now.  It boasts almost all the same functionality as our website.  There is always room for improvement though and we look forward to hearing from our users.   Give us feedback through the application itself or by emailing blackberryFeedback@quub.com.

Are you worried about who can see your open messaging?

Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of who knows what about who.  In the digital age it’s even worse.  And have you ever accidentally posted something on Facebook and wondered how bad the damage was?  Well quub wants to be clear and transparent about everything we do.  So when you post your micro-presence you control the groups that it goes out to.  Those groups are made up of contacts with whom you have made a connection previously.

Well what about conversations?  If you make a comment about someone else’s micro-presence, do you know who’s listening in?  On quub you do.   Click on an open message thread and at the top you’ll see a link like “14 people viewing this thread” . Click on that link and see exactly who is in on the conversation.   Those are the only people who can see your conversation through quub.com

Activate Google Calendar Suggestions

Activate Google Calendar Suggestions

One of the exciting new ways that we’re trying to integrate “micro-presence” into your everyday life is by connecting quub to Google Calendars.  In order to do this, click on the “Settings Tab” on the upper-right of the web interface, then activate your Google Calendar Account by clicking on the link above the “Save” button.  This will start a wizard on Google’s site that allows quub to access your calendar data.  If you change your mind in the future, just return here to disable the calendar link.

But what can this do for you?  Well basically it allows quubie to give you suggestions from your calendar.  So, if you are already using Google Calendar (or something else that syncs a desktop calendar to Google Calendar like “Spanning Sync” on the Mac) then you don’t have to do anything new to get really accurate suggestions from quubie.  Here’s an example:

I put “seeing District 9″ in my Google Calendar for tonight at 8:30pm, and use the location field on Google Calendar to enter “at the downtown theater”.  Sometime around 7:15pm or so I pull out quub on the iPhone.  “Great Hera!” What does the iPhone quub app suggest that I send to my quub groups and my Twitter Feed?  “at the downtown theater seeing District 9″

Easy, schmeasy.

quub for Android v1.2.0

Hot on the heels of the Apple iTunes release is the quub upgrade to v1.2.0 in the Android Market for the Android mobile operating system.  This is the smoothest Android client yet and we are very proud of it.  It’s been updated for an “optimal experience” with the on-screen keyboard.  This version includes the ability to publish status privately to the quub groups that a user sets up on the quub website (or indiscriminately to services like Twitter/Facebook) Look for more features to match the full functionality of the web site in the future.

To get it search for “quub” in the market app on the phone, or go to the quub website on your Android phone.  The details are on the bottom of the main page after you sign into the website.

We are extremely happy to report that quub can now be used from the iPhone.  Our initial application took a long time to get approved, but is now available with limited functionality.  Look for more features soon!

Want to try it out?  It’s free and you can get it in the iTunes store by clicking here or by searching for quub.
